Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience

We recently went to Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience in London and we were blown away about how good it was. It was absolutely incredible. The experience blends music, live performances and virtual reality together to make one sensory infused experience that will blow your socks off!

So, to be specific, the experience itself is not a piece of theatre nor is it a cinema type gig. It’s an experience that combines everything that you love London nightlife to be. So, there’s holograms,5D effects, actors,  there’s escape room elements to it, there’s video game elements to it and there’s live action show parts to it. It’s a sensory overload immersive night out. You won’t forget it in a hurry. There’s a reason as to why it has won events.

Now a War of the World’s event named “Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience” wouldn’t be complete without  Jeff Wayne’s multi-platinum Musical Version of The War of The Worlds as your soundtrack now would it? Yes you get to listen to the famous sound track as you go. So musical lovers you won’t miss out either!

The event also made Tripadvisor’s ‘THE BEST Nightlife in London’ shortlist, and also made it to #7 of ALL nightlife in London. Impressive.

So, that’s our compliments out the way, what exactly is it?

Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience

So, the event lasts 120 minutes and you start under the green eyes of a giant Martian Fighting Machine on Leadhall Street, George Herbert, the journalist, is your guide. You’re then transported back to 1898!

From here you are taken through a full kilometre of movie sets, complete with live actors and virtual reality goggles. There are 5D effects which will place you inside the action and you become part of the story. You’ll crawl, slide and weave your way though 24 scenes. Sighting the first capsule to the arrival of the 300 foot Martian Fighting Machines and the evacuation of London. Furthermore you’ll visit the Royal Observatory, sneak into a deserted house, escape London by boat and even fly to Mars. There will be 17 different characters of whom are 12 live actors, there’ll be a mix of holograms, projections and VR of West End star Carrie Hope Fletcher, Tom Brittney and Anna-Marie Wayne.

Hitman Merry Go Round Mess!

So before we get into the Hitman merry go round, have you ever heard of great business initiative. A great quote is this:

“I just told my son I would pay him $10 to clean the car and he said to me if I can find a kid to do it for $5 will you still give me 10 should I be worried  or pleased?”

Is this taking initiative or scheming!?

Some children at school often bring in drinks to sell at lunch time and earned decent money from it! There are loads of good stories about initiative, Richard Branson is a businessman who has won again and again. The following story doesn’t go as well as a Branson deal, though the story is packed full of business initiative. Where 5 people actually ended up in jail for attempted murder!

Beginning

So, as all of these types of stores begin, it starts with a bit of business.

In the summer 2012, Chinese businessman and investor Tan Youhui had completed a business transaction with a gentleman called Wei Maow. Tan had given Wei lots of money to invest in the development of two companies. One in Guang Chi and the other in Naaan-Ning. 

You ever had buyers remorse?

Buyers remorse is by definition this:

Buyer’s remorse is the sense of regret after having made a purchase. It is frequently associated with the purchase of an expensive item such as a vehicle or real estate.

Buyer’s remorse is thought to stem from cognitive dissonance, specifically post-decision dissonance, that arises when a person must make a difficult decision, such as a heavily invested purchase between two appealing alternatives. Factors that affect buyer’s remorse may include: resources invested, the involvement of the purchaser, whether the purchase is compatible with the purchaser’s goals, feelings encountered post-purchase that include regret.

Well Tan had some buyers remorse which I guess he just put down to it being a lot of money. However, Tan should have trusted his gut. As in 2013, Tan discovered that Wei was going to rip him off. By suing him and his company over a dispute between the two development companies that Tan had invested in.

We don’t particularly understand business. Nor do we understand how two companies that you invest in can have a dispute. However, if I were to give you £100 and then you crash into my house. Two totally different situations, so I can sue you for something else. In this situation it would be the crashing into my house. It’s pretty much a guarantee that you won’t be getting the £100 back.

Not getting your investment back.

So Tan realised he was not getting any of his investment back. So, it was a lot more than £100 in this situation. 

For Tan it must have felt like court was the only option and that he was going to lose out. It is here where the term “taking the initiative” comes into play. Unless you want to count the initiative of Wei ripping off Tan as the first. This is where we hear initiative kick in for the SECOND time in this story…..

(In our story here and totally not what Wei actually thought, we’re just dramatising it) Wei’s thoughts: 

“There is no way I will get my money back in court….I could call him and ask him nicely to stop…perhaps some golf…followed by a slap up meal…some drinks, all on me and then ask to call a truce…..or……….I could just hire a hitman…..

Contract killer.

Tan decided He’d hire a contract killer to murder Wei. With Wei gone all of this stress and of course the court case would be gone too. How do you think you hire a hitman nowadays?

Tan found a guy called Xi Guangan. This this is where I get the first indication that the money behind this investment was a significant amount. As Tan offered Xi Guangan, 2 million Chineese Wan. This is just under a quarter of a million pounds. To get rid of Wei once and for all…to make him disappear.

Tan also gave him the Wei’s address license plate number and phone number and I presume some pics in a white burner phone. Why a white phone, that is not inconspicuous at all! Why not give it to him in on the latest iPhone with exta clear camera?

The instructions were simple. Do the hit and then take a pic Wei once he had been zapped. You get the idea. Send the pic of the now dead Wei to Tan from the white inconspicuous burner phone…

Xi Guangan the assassin was also a businessman. He must have clocked how much Tan wanted this done and allegedly said

“Yeah I will do it but I want a bonus 150,000 Wan when I am done….”

3rd Business Initiative

Tan must have agreed and the contract was in place.  Now for the third slice of business initiative. This time it came from Xi Guangan.

We recon it went like this, he was cleaning his assassin kit and started thinking, he has a couple mill and a bonus to play with. So instead of strapping up the top of the line, laser guided sniper rifle with gps tracking and multi spectrum night vision googles or whatever assassins high end assassins use now a days. He decided to subcontract another killer. 

Conflicting info?

Now this is where there is conflicting information on amounts. As some sources say it’s more some say it’s less but what matters most it the actions of the following people. So we are going to simplify this…

Xi Guangan put his assassins kit away and bossed up! He decided to hire another assassin to get the job done for him

Xi Guangan hired Mo Tianxiang and offered him 1 million wan and a white phone with all the details of the target that he could keep after he got the the job done. 

So Mo got out his slightly less fancy sniper rifle for long range and blow darts in case he needed to get close and personal and got ready to do the job and earn a cool 1 million wan and I kid you not this is what happened. Mo Tian decided to hire another assassin to do it for him. 

4th Business initiative

Yes the fourth slice of business initiative was where Mo hired, Yang Kangsheng and offered him half a million to get the job done and a cool white phone with all the details of the target that he could keep afterwards. 

So Yang Kangsheng took out his slightly less expensive but effective garot, assassin swords, doned his all black assassin attire and was about to get busy with finding this Wei dude…..when he had thought. Yang Kangsheng decides to hire another assassin!

Time for the fifth but of business initiative!

Yang Guangsheng was next in this line of subcontractees….he again was offered half the fee the assassin that was contacting him was getting 250k and cool white phone with all the details of the target that he could keep afterwards.

Hitman & a 6th bit of business initiative!

So Yang Guangsheng got out his murder kit. Chloroform, a cloth and a heavy rock to so the job and when he has a thought.

Maybe Yang Guangsheng didn’t even take out his murder kit because it was pro. He just booted up his playstation whilst sending out a group message on WhatsApp seeing who is up for making a quick bit of dough….

Ling Xiansi was brought in….at this point I think he may have been offered a lot less than half. As what he did next was very savvy.

Hitman & a 7th bit of business initiative.

When he got given that cool cell phone with Wei’s details he got out his murder kit. Which was just his two fists then he had a thought unclenched them and he decided to pick up the phone. Call Wei Himself and tell him to meet him for a chat not so that he could kill him. But so he could help Wei live!

The chain

But Ling Xiansi was no fool he wanted paying…so he proposed this. Wei pretends to be killed they take a fake photo and ling would send it up the chain…little did he know how long the chain was!.

So Ling tied up Wei and took the killer pic

Ling took the photo and sent it to Yang 2

Yang 2 sent the photo to Yang 1

Yang 1 sent the image to Mo

Mo sent the image to she

Xi text it to Tan

I hope they weren’t forwarding the image on WhatsApp or you may see the ‘forwarded many times’ text above the image by the time it got to Tan! Tan would be like whaaat? Lol

So when Tan got the message he was chuffed! Then this police roll up and arrest him on suspicion of intent to kill.

Trial

Yep after all of this initiative upon initiative. Subcontractor (hitman) after subcontractor (hitman) heavy hit after heavy hit. Wei went to the police and told them someone was trying to kill him. 

The hitman trial lasted three years. Tan got 5 years for “intentional homicide”. Xi, Mo, Yang 1 and Yang 2 got 4 years

Ling the whistle blower got 2 because well he was an assassin for hire and did accept a contract to kill someone before the photo idea. So he’s still a hitman.

How Accurate is John Wick? Scene By Scene Breakdown

So, have you ever wondered how accurate John Wick actually is? Well Ben Slater over at Military Direct decided to find out just how accurate John Wick is. Here’s a question, have you ever held your breath when a character is under water? Also have you tried to count how many shots are fired during a shoot out? While it’s fun to figure out how many films are realistic, even when there’s some movie magic.

So, during Lockdown Ben Slater, Marketing Director of Military Direct, along with his team, combed through the biggest streaming services to find binge worthy films. While, the stand out films from this was the John Wick series.

Keanu Reeves plays an assassin willing to rip the world apart to retrieve his car and avenge his dog. With stunning action sequences, he takes on wave after wave of enemies with brutal fighting skills and lethal accuracy.

However, the team at Military Direct wanted to figure out just how accurate Mr John Wick really is.

They analysed scenes from across the franchise and employed a formula. While, they calculated his accuracy per gun fight and then for each film arrive at a total accuracy across all three films.

The Results

John Wick – Total Accuracy:

72.6 % across all three films.

Most Lethal Weapon:

Technically, John’s most accurate weapon is a Pencil – 6 Kills / 100% Accuracy.

Most Lethal Gun:

John’s most lethal gun across the series (total bullets fired / accuracy) would likely be the Glock 26, which is used in multiple scenes across all three films.

By scene it would be the Benelli M4 Super 90 Shotgun used in the catacombs in John Wick: Chapter 2 with 100% Accuracy.

Furthermore, the overall analysis was made easy thanks to the clean cinematography of Jonathan Sela, the superb direction of Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeve’s outstanding performance. John Wick delights in showing you how lethal he really is.

So, it turns out that John Wick really is very accurate indeed.

Streets of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4 is now available for and it’s a continuation of SEGA’s iconic arcade brawler that took over the arcades back in the day! Also, it’s known for its radical fights, it’s 90’s beats and boxing gloves. While, not forgetting the bandanas.

History of Streets of Rage

So, Streets of Rage is a cult classic and is known as Bare Knucle in Japan. It’s a trilogy of beat em ups developed by SEGA in the 1990’s.

Disney Plus is winning streaming wars?!

Well it looks like Disney Plus is doing very very well indeed! The latest numbers have recently been announced and Disney Plus has taken a huge leap in the streaming wars and heading straight for Netflix!

In the last quarter of 2020, Disney Plus closed in on Hulu and almost took over the 3rd largest streaming service in the United States! While recently launched Peacock, a streaming service dedicated to streaming NBC Universal content, is already twice as big as Apple TV+. However Netflix has maintained it’s dominance over Prime Video with a margin of 30%!

That being said the growth of other streaming services impinged on Netflix’s market share. With Newcomers Disney+ and Peacock growing by 5% and 6% respectively. With HBO Max finishing on a high with a 9% expansion throughout 2020.

Hitman 3

Hitman is back! The assassination franchise that everyone loves is making it’s way to the next gen in Hitman 3. However, it’s still available for the previous generation of consoles. So, the bald barcoded hitman, Agent 47, can still be enjoyed by those not upgrading their consoles just yet.

Hitman 3 is the conclusion in the long running ‘World of Assassination’ trilogy. You play as Agent 47 and this time his contracts are the most important that he’s ever had. As always with Hitman games, you’ll be completing assassinations across a wide variety of levels and locations. Each one is exotic and very very detailed. Each with their own creative opportunities to take out your target. Which not only are fun to discover but also gives plenty of replayability. Furthermore it makes it so not each game is the same! Your gameplay will be different to your friends, which is different to their friends and so on and so forth.

Furthermore, Hitman 3 allows you to play in ALL of the previous locations from the previous games. All locations from Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 can be imported and played within Hitman 3 at NO additional cost! Furthermore, progression from Hitman 2 is directly carried over into Hitman 3!

Doug Ford: Please Stay At Home!

Doug Ford Ontario’s Premier (A Premier is basically the head of government for some countries and states, similar to the Prime Minister, but for a state) has thanked his fellow Ontarians for staying at home. Whilst also urging the people of Canada and Ontario to continue to stay at home. He does so in a video message to the state by asking people to stay at home in various different languages.

In this new video he speaks in lots of different languages such including sign language, Dutch, Serbian, Somali and Hebrew.

It was a follow up video message from January 21st where Doug Ford urged his fellow Ontarians to stay at home. Repeating the message in a number of different languages from Italian, Russian, Turkish and Mandarin, to name but a few.

Doug Ford had issued a stay-at-home order for the province from January 14th which remains in effect for at least 28 days. Ford had also issued a second state of emergency on January 12th.

Bill Gates Answers Common Interview Questions

For Steph Curry’s official YouTube channel, Steph is doing a series of exclusive interviews called “State of Inspiration” In episode 1 Steph features one of the world’s leading executives and philanthropists, Bill Gates.

They discuss on the secondary problems that have arisen due to COVID-19, primarily food insecurity, education (remote learning), and unemployment. While they also tackled several of the issues and discussed what is needed to mitigate the problems that the global pandemic will leave behind when we all go back to normal.

One aspect that a lot of people will face young and old is job interview questions. As young people going into their first job and older generation of people who haven’t had to go for a job interview in a long time.

So, Steph wanted to ask Bill Gates to pretend he was interviewing for a software engineering job at Mircorosft and to answer a few of the common interview questions.

  1. Why Should We Hire You
  2. How do you define your strengths and weaknesses, and how would you incorporate them into a team?
  3. What are your salary expectations for this job?

However, some of these answers might surprise you and all of them might inspire you to adapt them into your line of work. So check out the answers below:

Bill Gates – Why Should We Hire You?

You should look at the codes that I’ve written. I write software programs way beyond any classes that I’ve taken. Think I’ve gotten better over time, so take a look at how ambitious I’ve been there.

I do think I can work well with people, might criticize their code a little harshly.

But overall, I like to be on a team. I like ambitious goals, like thinking through how we can anticipate the future.

Software is cool, and I want to be involved.

Bill Gates – How do you define your strengths and weaknesses, and how would you incorporate them into a team?

Well I’m not somebody who knows a lot about marketing. I wouldn’t enjoy being a salesman.

For a position where you’re actually creating the products and thinking through what those features should be, I’m fascinated by that.

I followed the history of the industry, read about the mistakes that have been made. So product definition, product creation, very strong.

If you have a team that understands the customers, the sales, the marketing, I’m not going to bring that, but I would enjoy working with them.

Bill Gates – What are your salary expectations for this job?

I hope the option package is good. I’m able to take risk and I think the company has a great future, so I prefer to get stock options even more than cash compensation.

I hear some other companies are paying a lot, but treat me fairly and emphasize the options.
