Lego Worlds

Funk Butcher played a really cool game this past week called Lego Worlds:

LEGO Worlds is a galaxy of procedurally-generated Worlds made entirely of LEGO bricks which you can freely manipulate and dynamically populate with LEGO models and play out your own unique adventures! Even Play with a select number of real-life LEGO sets, taken from the Classic and current LEGO themes!

Use the multi-tool to shape environments and alter any World to your liking: raise the terrain to create vast mountain ranges, or enter the Brick-by-Brick editor to build anything you can imagine. Plus build any world you can imagine using the brick-by-brick editor tool and prefabricated LEGO structures

Netflix Movie Studio!?

Netflix has been producing original content at a steady pace, both in the movie space and in the tv space. Whilst receiving praise from audiences and critics alike, prestige has eluded them. Deadline are reporting, in a power move to attract bigger names to the service, they have hired Scott Stuber, a HUGE hollywood movie producer.(Ted 2, Patriots Day, Kill The Messenger)

Netflix wants to be a movie studio and is going the right way about it. However, Bloomberg reports that Netflix has an uphill battle as many filmmakers develop their projects for the big screen and Netflix’s business plan of same day theatre/streaming release doesn’t sit well with theatres.

Can Netflix repeat its TV success on the big screen? We will have to wait and see.

Expensive Movie Rentals?!

It seems like there’s going to be a reduction from the time a movie is at the cinema to when it’s in your home….Warner Bros would be cool with people renting a movie 2 weeks after cinematic release as long as they pay a $50 fee. Fox are offering a 30-40 day turn around with a $30 price tag. Universal doesn’t have a price but has suggested 20 days before available to rent at home.

Variety reports that due to anti-trust laws, each studio has to come to an agreement with each theatre chain individually. Who are scared that people won’t come to the cinema if this happens, the demand is that the 90 day gap between cinema release and debut on Blu Ray stays as is for at least 5 years.

Twitter removes @ replies!

Twitter have gone a way to giving you more for your 140 characters – by removing the @username with replies. So as well as pictures not taking up precious space, or quotes, now @ names won’t either. With the name of the person you’re replying to appearing above the tweet. With more than 1 person appearing like so: “”Replying to @username and 2 others.” any others will have a “click to see more” tab.

If you wish to tag anyone else you will still have to type their name and use up precious space. You can add up to 50 people to a convo, but this has had people trolling the feature:

Nimuno Loops!

We tried some really cool tape in the office this past week called Nimuno Loops!

Nimuno Loops:

Imagine being able to build around corners, on curved surfaces, or even onto the sides of that sailing ship you’ve just spent hours building. You forgot to engineer a point of attachment for that sweet dinosaur-smashing cannon? No problem. Snip a length of Nimuno Loops, stick it on the hull, mount your cannon and be on yarr way. Compatible with most toy block systems like Lego® Blocks, Mega Bloks & Kreo.

Apple Clips

Apple are releasing a video tool that has a really cool feature that might just be a game changer.

You can record video on the spot or use video clip or photo from your library.

Then there is this:

Live Titles lets you easily create animated captions — just by talking as you record. Choose from a variety of styles, all perfectly timed to the sound of your voice.

Then you can like on almost every social media platform now, pick a filter and add stickers but in Apple’s Clips you can add music to your creation.

No word on location or release date as of yet, Apple have just stated that “Clips” is coming ‘soon’
