Body Worlds – Amsterdam

Nick Bright recently travelled to Amsterdam with his other half and discovered a really cool exibhition called Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS: The Happiness Project. Basically it’s an exhibition which shows off Humans without our skin.

This particular event that is running right now in Amsterdam is called The Happiness Project and tells a story of our body and the impact in which the feeling of happiness has on our health.

These bodies that are on show aren’t plastic models either they are real anatomical specimens of real human bodies on show which highlights how complex our bodies really are.

The ground-breaking BODY WORLDS exhibitions – also known as Körperwelten – have already attracted over 40 million visitors world wide.

Please see below for more information on the Body Worlds Happiness Project (Video is in Dutch but you can put closed captions on, click the settings wheel and then auto translate it into English)

Mission Breakout!

This week we went embarked an historic escape room located in the disused tube station South Kentish Town courtesy of our friends over at MISSION: BREAKOUT LONDON. It’s incredibly immersive and requires a lot of team effort, a great mind and some logic to solve a series of puzzles and clues to manipulate the machines and break the code!

Like most of the escape rooms that we have gone on here at How To Kill An Hour, we had a team of 4 people (Minimum of 3/Maximum of 6) to complete the challenges, most importantly we elected a leader and then worked and communicated effectively to get out in time – maybe.

MISSION:BREAKOUT LONDON is open Monday to Sunday 9am – 11Pm and is open on Bank Holidays and School Holidays too! Prices start from £20 per player!

Nintendo Switch

So Nintendo have announced their next console and boy is it a game changer!

It’s kind of a home console, portable handheld console in one, what was teased a several months ago via patents has finally come to fruition and safe to say us here at How To Kill An Hour are definitely interested!

While you are at home on Nintendo’s newest console, Nintendo Switch, rests in the the dock which connects the system to a tv which of course acts like a regular console. But then simply by lifting the console out from the dock the system automatically will switch to what Nintendo are calling ‘Portable Mode’ and you’ll be having the same experience that you had on the big screen but now on the go, all in glorious HD.

You play via the detachable ‘Joy-Con’ controllers that sit either side of the Nintendo Switch console. There are a multiple ways that a user can hold and use the Joy-Con controller, for example, one player can use a Joy-Con controller in each of their hands, two players can have one each or multiple controllers can be connected to the console by numerous of people so there are plenty of ways to play games with Nintendo’s newest console. The multiplayer options don’t stop their either as it is possible for numerous people to bring their own Nintendo Switch’s together to play local multiplayer with one another!

The controller is always interesting with Nintendo and this one is no different (as you can see via the image above) the controllers can be clicked back into place on the console, or if you prefer, be slipped into a Joy Con Grip accessory. The Joy-Con’s can also connected to an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (a more traditional controller)

They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch systems together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition.

NFL

Nick Bright has some NFL information for us this week on How To Kill An Hour! He discusses in the run up to SuperBowl that we should get more involved in NFL and once you learn the basics of NFL it really is an enjoyable sport and its not all just a poor mans Rugby.

Basically you have to get 10 yards up the field and you get 4 chances to do so. If you get to the 10 yard line within 4 tries you get another 4 and another 4 all until you get to the goal, or you can run to the other end of the pitch and get a touch down, but if you don’t get there within 4 you have to punt it long.

Confused?

Listen to Nick Bright on this weeks show to give you a quick run down of NFL so you don’t get all confused and got to bed when the SuperBowl is on, because you’ll be missing out!

Luke Cage on Netflix!

Marcus has been really poorly this week so between stabbing pens in pineapples and listening to music on his Bragi Dash in the shower, he has been binging on the Luke Cage series on Netflix. He was not dissapointed! So much so he went ahead and bought the killer soundtrack that goes along with it.

If you don’t know what or who Luke Cage is here is some information for you to learn.

Situated within the Marvel Universe, Luke Cage, is a former bad guy convict who is now on the other side of the law and fighting crime. Sounds pretty normal right? Well Luke Cage is a superhero with incredible amounts of strength and not only can he outlift you in the gym but he has unbreakable skin. Practically making him unstoppable.

The music is just as good as the show itself, featuring music from hip hop giants such as A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang Clan. The shows composers Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad were aiming for a hip hop influence stating that “It was about getting that hip-hop foundation and making sure those drums were as big as day,”  even go as far as naming the episode titles with hip hop references.
