Lets Play: Override: Mech City Brawl

Love robots? Love fighting games? Well we have just the game for you! It’s called Override: Mech City Brawl and it is a LOT of fun! We suggest that you mainly play with friends as it’s a lot more enjoyable with a buddy than without. Don’t have a buddy in the house with you? Fear not as there is online multiplayer to get your robot beat em up fix!

There are a rang of different mechs to take a hold of. Like many fighting games, each character has their own play style, special moves and finishers. The environments that you fight in are totally destroyable too, therefore you’re able to completely obliterate entire cities on your quest to become the king of the mechs! Especially since your fists are the size of skyscrapers!

There are a total of 12 characters that you can play in and a whole host of famous cities to duke it out in. Such as Tokyo and San Francisco, countries also include Egypt and Mexico, quite the mix of environments!

As well as multiplayer users are also able to fight in co-op mode. Sounds weird doesn’t it? A co-op mode on a fighting game. Tag Team mode? Nope. Something very very different and very very cool, if we say so ourselves! In co-op mode 2-4 players take control of one part of a mech! Speaking of mechs, they are fully customizable to whatever you desire.

Story mode takes you along a journey to defeat the alien invasion and save the world, so you got to use the same drill-powered horns or old fashioned mouth lasers that you do to defeat your foes in multiplayer to help save the world in story mode.

(Override: Mech City Brawl)

First DLC

Following the launch of Override: Mech City Brawl, Stardust a downloadable DLC character, the games first post-launch DLC will bring this incredible mech to gamers. The mech has a penchant for posing extravagantly and kicking up hooves of steel, unleashing an all manner of aerial launches and sassy shooting stars.

Owners of the Super Mega Charged edition of Override: Mech City Brawl will get this character for free! As well as Stardust, any future mechs released, owners of the Super Mega Charged edition will also recieve them for free. If you purchased the normal edition it will cost you £3.29, Stardust will come to consoles on December 14th.

Overall this game is tons of fun and a very unique spin on the fighting genre. We especially liked the co-op mode and found it challenging yet tons of fun. If you’re looking for a breath of fresh air in the beat ’em up genre, look no further than Override: Mech City Brawl!

Strange Brigade

Strange Brigade: Exclusive Play Through

Strange Brigade: Play Through

We’ve given Strange Brigade a play through and one thing that we will say afterwards is: Fun! This game is fun, fun, fuuuuun!! It’s very enjoyable by yourself defeating hordes of the undead. However, get a crew together and this levels of excitement and enjoyment go through the roof!

From the very start Strange Brigade is very charming with it’s friendly narrator (with his over the top British upper class dialect) and it’s 1930’s setting. The graphics draw you in to a world that is full of might magic and mystery. Yet at the same time having an underlying notion of danger when the undead appear. You know you’re in danger! Yet the locations are so pretty!

What makes Strange Brigade different to many other co-op games available today is that the levels and the game will change slightly depending on the numbers in your team. More enemies, lots of twists and turns with the levels and even the puzzles take it up a notch if you have a friend with you. Depending on who you have in your team, the chests that are scattered around the levels are there to help you. You can either share them out amongst yourselves. Or if you have a slightly unhelpful teammate (as we saw in our playthrough!) it can be a little competition to get the loot first. However we will say defeating the undead is a lot easier if you work together! Don’t horde the loot!

There are a range of characters to choose from, whilst the weapons stay the same no matter who you choose. It’s the taking of souls within the amulet where the separation between each of them is apparent. The game focuses heavily on the ‘amulet’ the small device that collects souls from the undead. Each character has their own special ability with how they utilise the amulet and the souls that they harvest. We found it a lot of fun cycling through the characters and witnessing the abilities for ourselves. We suggest you do the same, it would be such a shame to spoil it for you here!

There are a total of 9 levels to complete, each with their own areas to unlock via collection of coins. Though some will also require your brain to unlock via puzzles! Making for quite the exciting experience.  Plus the levels are interactive too, shoot various things to help defeat enemies. Shoot ropes to knock down blocks or shoot orbs to bring up a huge saw!

Horde Mode

Horde mode is also incredible amounts of fun, simply see how long you can last as a character taking on streams of enemies. The difficulty gets harder and harder as you progress so make sure you utilise the environment and collect those souls!

What is Strange Brigade?

Strange Brigade is your next favourite game! That’s what it is!

Strange Brigade takes users to places that they have never been before. The Plot? Well, simply there are four remote corners of the British Empire. What these remote corners entails no one knows as the shadows linger at their deepest. Who knows about these places the best? The servants of The Crown do and there are some supernatural beings that exist in these places!

Therefore it’s time to introduce the Strange Brigade! It is here where users are taken on an exotic safari, it’s dangerous and few dare to even embark on such an adventure. Why? As few return! As you go along this treacherous safari, you encounter civilisations that have once been forgotten by society, yet they’re fantastic within their own right, all while being shrouded in mystery! Go on adventures that take you to dark tombs and battle unimaginable evil!

Strange Brigade: Plot

You take on one of four adventurers or explorers. Each of the characters available to you have their own special powers, weapons and even tactics! The campaign takes you across a 1930’s era landscape and play with up to 4 friends along this action packed safari! However, as with many exotic plots, be aware of fighting armies of mythological characters that have been unleashed by an ancient Egyptian ruler: Seteki The Witch Queen. She’s so evil she has been wiped from hieroglyphs! So beware! To help you along the way there are secret caves around the safari. Why are these so special? Well within these caves there’s buried riches. Find these to help you along the way!

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

Our friends over at IGN got a chance to check out Cyberpunk 2077 recently and they shared some Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay on their YouTube channel. Boy oh boy does it look good! (Though bare in mind that the footage you are seeing is from a work in progress game so all is subject t0 change. That being said it gets us excited for the release of this truly beautiful game! Bare in mind though that this game will most likely be an 18+. So the footage above is going to be very violent, use swear words,  nudity and show a lot of gore! Even though this is pre-release the graphics are clean, sharp and beautiful, which is ironic considering the scenery.

Gameplay Features

Cyberpunk 2077 is a first person RPG and we got a glimpse into how this will be incorporated in to the game. It’s CD Projekt Red’s level of detail that impressed us from the offset. Even when creating a character, the choices you make upon creation of their backstory will affect how the story will unfold going forward. IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay shows the team take the role of a female character on her quest to find a missing person. Viewing the 48minute gameplay demo highlighted how fluid the cutscenes to gameplay is, making it feel somewhat like a movie.

The story seems very intriguing to us and we felt really immersed and we were only watching! Tasks are displayed in the top right hand corner which is very handy and easy to follow. Whilst there is no multiplayer revealed for Cyberpunk 2077, this looks like one stellar single player experience!

More Info

Developer CD Projekt Red describe Cyberpunk 2077 as an ““an open world, narrative-driven role-playing game” so essentially this game, as beautiful as it looks, is a first person role playing game. A first person role playing game that is also open world and narrative driven. We are liking the sound of this already! Fallout fans listen up! As even though the game is in first person, the game is said to offer players, plenty of chances to see what your character looks like. Consequently IGN pointing out that the game is a First Person RPG and not an FPS. While this is an action game, don’t expect lots of bang bang action 24/7.

Furthermore we are liking the route that this game is taking, making sure to emphasise the fact that it’s not just a shooter and it seems like there is a HUGE focus on storytelling. That’s what we got from the trailer, the trailer looked very movie like and we cannot wait to get our hands on it!

Users are playing as “V”, who is a “hired gun on the rise” within the Cyberpunk violent metropolis, Night City. Judging from the trailer we are getting a Matrix/Ready Player One vibe to the game. Going more indepth on the character customization, CD Projekt Red promises a “robust character creator” which will allow platers to choose things such as gender, appearance class and even their characters backgrounds. However, choose wisely as the choices that you make now, will affect and influence how the game plays out.

Yet much like regular RPG’s players are encouraged to interact with the various residents of Night City. Users do this via a dialogue system, which in turn will navigate the Cyberpunk 2077 narrative. With CD Prokekt Red stating that “difficult decisions will ripple through the entire game” (Polygon)

Call Of Duty World War 2 Multiplayer

Call Of Duty World War 2 Multiplayer

Call Of Duty World War 2 Multiplayer

We recently got invited to play Call Of Duty World War 2 Multiplayer at a secret location in London, England. Everything outside the location looked normal, you wouldn’t think something incredibly cool was going on inside. While inside was decorated to look very gritty and like a World War 2 bunker, we felt like we had time travelled back in time! While there we got to play 3 differen modes, surprisingly with the developers, Sledgehammer games.

This was A LOT of fun as we got to learn about the game as well as play with some really cool people. Most noteworthy is that the learning curve is as easy as ever. This is a Call Of Duty game after all, which plays a lot like the series of old. We felt like we had Call of Duty 2 in our hands, we loved the old game and this is even better. We liked the nostalgia feel that this took us back to what made Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty. While remaining modern with things such as kill streaks. So those beware of those campers!

Check out each of the videos below for some more information of the game types!

Team Deathmatch

Not much to explain with this game mode. If you’ve played a lot of Call Of Duty you know the score. If you haven’t, this game requires you to get as many kills as possible in a 10 minute match or first to 100. (or whatever the server host decides if it’s a private match) Killstreaks (extra abilities that you get once you achieve x amount of kills without dieing. Increasing in devastation as the amount of kills you get before you die) apply here as well. Keep an eye out for the SICK double kill Marcus achieved in this match.

This is an upgrade on the old ‘Uplink’ mode of Call of Duty multiplayer. Instead of a Satellite, as in Uplink, you have a ball and two goals placed in the bases of each team. The aim of the game is to score as many points as possible before the time runs out. You can still shoot one another and your scorestreaks work as they would in Team Deathmatch, you can pass the ball too. You get 3 points for throwing the ball into the goal and 6 points for a touchdown and that, basically is Gridiron.

War is an objective based mode that requires you to work as a team to complete mini missions. They’re time based objectives, so it’s vital to complete all tasks before time is up. We had to complete Operation Neptune, based on the D-Day landings. One half of the match requires you to work as the allies and storm the beach of Normandy. The other puts you in the shoes of the German axis tasked with pushing the allies back on to the beach.

Finally, a huge thank you to Michael and the team of Sledgehammer games for their time, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Even if we did lose each time!

Dirt 4 Review

Getting down and Dirt-y

The Dirt series has always been at the forefront when it comes to combining real world driving mechanics with a fast-paced arcade style that oozes with charm. After two failed attempts to push the franchise in different directions with “Dirt Showdown” and “Dirt Rally”, both expertly mediocre in all facets, the series has gone back to its roots with the official forth entry, Dirt 4.

And praise the gaming gods it has. As just when racing genre was starting to turn stale, Dirt 4 drifts through the pack to show just how magical racing games can truly be.

Much like its predecessor, Dirt 3, the forth entry has a minimalist approach to why exactly you’re racing. You’re an up and comer who likes racing, and so you race. You’re here for a racing game, so what other excuse do you need?

As you race, your character levels up by completing events and a selection of challenges given at the start of each race. As you gain more experience, different forms or race open up to you.

So, while you start off with good old-fashioned dirt rally races, by the end you’ll be taking part in massive dirt buggy events, night time speed runs, and hillside drift challenges that make Initial D look tame.

dirt-4 (1)

The verity of events to tackle is mind blowing. Then you find out that the game is also randomly generated, and soon realise Dirt 4 has the potential to technically create infinite tracks for you to race on forever!

Plus, the game now incorporates random events into races to keep you on your toes. Sometimes you might be notified over the headset that another racer has broken down, and so you’ll need to keep an eye out for their car on the track.

And at one point, a car had a crash and was wedged nicely into the trunk of a tree. These events keep the game constantly fresh and make the events feel like actual races, rather than static track you just drive along.

But when you’re not busy racing and laughing at your unfortunate opponents, you can also manage your very own team. You can buy cars from dealers or auction houses and start your own enterprise which involves hiring drivers and sorting out sponsors for your races.

While these menus are finicky and confusing at first, get it right and you’ll see a massive profit boost for every successful race you and your team manage to win.

Looking at your best time at the end of a rally to see that your team has also secured some other good positions in the leader board is a strangely satisfying feeling often unfound in racing games.

But what really pulls it all together is the games breath-taking visuals. Lots of racing games bank on their impressive visual presentation to hide their lacklustre gameplay (lookin at you Project Cars 2), but Dirt manages to weave its visual presentation into the very core of the racing itself.

While speeding through lush woods and glistening sands, a drone might fly ahead or a fox might run across the track after a rabbit. These little visual flairs go a long way to making Dirt 4 feel alive and full of energy.

If only the same could be said for the soundtrack.

After the masterpiece that was Dirt 2, the Dirt games have prided themselves on having star-studded soundtracks that perfectly encapsulate the rush of racing. Sadly, Dirt 4 seems to have forgotten about the joy of music and keeps it’s audible attractions to the most basic level.

Songs can be heard during menus, playback, loading screens, and diegetically through speakers when getting ready to race but that’s it. There’s no little prompt that appears on screen when a song comes on to let you know what it is, there’s no option to skip tracks, there’s not even a way to customise the music in the options menu.

It’s a missing feature that serious racing fans won’t even realise is missing, but for those who adored the way music was incorporated into previous entries, prepare to be disappointed.

But considering how the only complaint with Dirt 4 is that the music isn’t very engaging, it goes to show just how much of a racing marvel Dirt 4 really is. With smooth and addictive gameplay, beautiful graphics and enough replayabilty to keep you driving for years, Dirt 4 comes in at first place as a must own title for any gamer.
