Sweden has a FAR different approach to COVID

Sweden is one of the few countries not to enter a partial or full lockdown to help the fight against coronavirus.

Swedish authorities have opted for a relaxed measure to help isolated confirmed cases as much as possible. Keeping schools for younger children, restaurants and most shops open. While Denmark, Finland and Norway have all imposed some form of lockdown 3 weeks ago.

Sweden still operate social distancing guidelines. Traffic data from Citymapper suggest that trips within Stockholm have fallen 70%. As most people are working from home if they can.

However, the most recent figures are suggesting that this wasn’t enough. Sweden have now recorded almost 800 deaths from Coronavirus. Which is twice as many as it’s Scandinavian neighbours combined.

Sweden’s strategy is a bold one, though if deaths keep rising at the current rate, it has not worked as intended.

Zoom COVID benefits in more ways than one!

Zoom. The meeting app that has skyrocketed in popularity. Our friends over at Chartr have taken a look at it in a closer and have found a few things. They’ve have had a huge few months, their user base has increased twenty-fold and their share price has more than doubled. It’s gone on to become the go to communication tool for many of us in lockdown. However, another company called Zoom Technologies, a tiny company who have no affiliation to the video conferencing company.

Some people are investing. Some think that they’re investing in Zoom Communications (the real one) when they’re actually buying Zoom Technologies stock (the other one). Those mistakes have pushed the wrong Zoom companies price up to 1800%. Which is a tidy return for those who made the mistake early doors and benefited from others doing the same later on down the line. By the way here is where you can get buy Zoom shares.

Suspended Trading

To try and minimise the confusion and protect investors. The SEC (US Security and Exchange Commission) had to suspend trading in Zoom Technologies for a short period.

This has actually happened before. Zoom Communications went public in April 2019. Investors poured money into Zoom Technologies. Seeing their share price go from under a cent to almost $6 in a month. Other instances of these mistakes happening are, Twitter and Snapchat. When Twitter (TWTR) went public in 2013, investors bought Tweeter Home Entertainment (TWTRQ) stock. In one day increased their stock by 1,500%! In 2017 Snapchat (SNAP) went public, the stock price of Snap Iterative increased 164%

Recently, thanks to the lovely guys over at Ford, Marcus wrapped up warm and traveled to the Icy heights of Northern Sweden to experience ice driving to test their brand new motor, the Ford Edge.

Tech Heavy

The Ford Edge not only looks amazing, but it drives wonderfully well too! Not only that but it’s packed with tons of amazing tech! Just what we love here at How To Kill An Hour! For example, the Ford Edge comes with adaptive cruise control, radar sensors which help you see your blind spots, lane centering and Ford Co-Pilot 360, a driving assistant.

Plus, what’s really cool, the Ford Edge has Ford’s FordPass Connect. Which allows for everyone in the car to stay connected through it’s in-car Wifi hotspot that connects to 4G! Therefore saving all that precious phone data! FordPass Connect also gives drivers up to date live traffic information and the chance to make an eCall if you were ever to get in danger. In the case of a serious accident FordPass will automatically make a call to the emergency services and ping them your location! However, the Edge will also do it’s best to avoid situations like this, as the Edge has a Pre-Collison assist. The Ford Edge keeps everyone safe and sound by anticipating your next move and the cars around you. Intelligent and impressive stuff!

Each Ford Edge also comes equipped with B&O tailor made speaker systems. Now B&O are a huge name in the audio industry and they bring 1000 watts of power to the car’s speaker system. Don’t turn it up too loud will you!

When is it available?

The Ford Edge is available in 8 colours: Oxford White, Ingot Silver, Magnetic, Chrome Blue, Shadow Black, Ruby Red, White Platinum and Burgundy Velvet. It comes with a 4 cyclinder 2.0L diesel EcoBlue engine and is available in both manual and automatic transmission. Furthermore the Ford Edge also comes in 3 different models: Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale & is available now!

Ambulances Interrupting Tunes!

There’s a huge reason not to play music REALLY loud while in your car. That’s not because other people don’t want to hear your music but rather more that you won’t hear the emergency vehicle coming full speed behind you until the last moment.

Well in Sweden you won’t have to worry about that possibility no more. Sweden are testing Ambulances in Stockholm with a system that interrupts in-car audio via the FM transmitter on your car with a voice warning when they’re close by and responding to a crisis. What’s more interesting is that the system is speed sensitive so you’ll recieve notices from greater distances when you’re on the motorway.
