Auto Focus Glasses

29th May 2018/in Gadgets / Tech/by billywright

If you need glasses you may not need to in the near future! (Kind Of) If you wear glasses you know about the time and hassle it usually takes to get your eyes tested every few years to see if you got to pay loads of money to get your glasses replaced if your eyesight has got worse.

Well, scientists from the University of Utah have created some prototype glasses which could make progressive lenses obsolete for the older folk. These glasses have electronically activated lenses which use infared to judge distance – then the glasses focus automatically and within 14 milliseconds, on whatever it is you’re looking at, regardless of distance. Once the glasses are ready for commercial use they could eliminate the use of multiple pairs for different uses for example instead of 1 for reading and 1 for driving,  you’d only require one pair of smart glasses.

To get the right setting for everyday use, the users upload their prescriptions to the glasses by pairing them with a smartphone over bluetooth. You still require to charge the glasses but, at least it saves you a lot money in the long run!

What happens if you run our of battery mid use or while driving?

What can’t be ‘smart-ified’

Would you use these?

What do you think is the danger for these?

Are these a better version of getting bionic eyes?

Snapchat Glasses!

18th November 2016/in Gadgets, Gadgets / Tech/by billywright

Snapchat has been causing quite the fuss on social media lately and it’s all down to their first piece of physical hardware. Snapchat Glasses. They cost $130 Dollars (Selling for 1000 dollars on ebay) and are only available in pop up ‘stores’ or vending machines which are called ‘Snap Bots’.

There have even been reports of people waiting in line for up to 4 hours in line for these glasses! They are available all around the US however, they aren’t advertised and you have got to scourer your Twitter feed or around the cities or your local area to find them.

The glasses feature a camera with a 115-degree lens, which apparently mimics how we as human’s actually see. When you record footage (connect the glasses via bluetooth to your android or iOS device) the video is shot in circular video. However when you view the footage in the Snapchat app and not on your video/photos app the video then fills the screen, if you rotate the device too you get a super clean and smooth transition, thus allowing you to see more of the image.

The battery lasts about a day or 100 video snaps so it depends on how much you shoot really. You’ll want to keep a hold of the case which holds 4 charges itself, so you can get theoretically around 400 snaps per charge cycle (4 charges)
