Swipe Delete – The Music Video!

Houseology’s Swipe Delete has been out for a little while and we are all loving it! However, there is now an incredible music video to go along with it as well. We think that this is a wonderful piece of work from both our own Funk Butcher and Swiss from So Solid Crew. While the video is a bit of fun and they’re all dressed up to portray an older generation. The song quite rightly begs the question. Are we addicted to social media?

What is Swipe Delete?

It’s brand new dance track from Funk Butcher and Swiss that is blowing up on the socials! Not only that it has got a lot of mainstream love! Including BBC Radio 1’s DJ Target playing the dance track on his show recently.  Furthermore to that, Kiss Fm DJ Majestic has given some love to Funk and Swiss’s Swipe Delete stating that he feels as though it will be a HUGE Summer anthem. Consequently that it will be an instant hit amongst audiences:

Green Man Gaming (EXPLICIT WARNING)

We recently discovered this amazing smaller YouTuber called Green Man Gaming and they’re amazing! We think that they deserve a lot more eyes on them! So have decided to showcase them here on How To Kill An Hour.

They do a whole host of different types of videos, like the comedy style above, to a historic look through at games. For example, they looked at Ace Combat through the years, giving a good insight as to how the game has developed over the years. As well as longer play through’s they also do miniature (sub 10minute) play through of games, their most recent one was of Rage 2. Furthermore they also do a pretty cool Throwback Thursday features where by they look at past games, in this one they look at Super Mario 64. However, we cannot go by and not mention the really cool video they did before Christmas. It was called Video Games Rock. It’s a mash up video of video game’s dancing to Jingle Bell Rock. It’s worth a watch. Even if it is February!

Fortnite Marshmellow

Fortnite Marshmellow MONSTER Concert!

During the Super Bowl this past Sunday something amazing happened. It wasn’t the half-time show from Maroon 5, nor was it the Patriots winning the Super Bowl again. Introducing Fortnite’s Marshmellow monster concert!

It happened in the hugely popular video game Fortnite. Players who were logged into Fortnite at 19:00GMT were only allowed to play one game mode: Showtime.

Interactive Concert

By playing this game mode, players were treated to a Marshmellow concert, complete with a Marshmellow avatar and trademark turntables, a concert which was entirely live, while the masked DJ urge players to dance and have fun along to the music.

Marshmellow’s Fortnite set lasted 10mins and players could launch themselves into the air, bounce beach balls and dance, the set was entirely interactive. It is said that MILLIONS attended Marshmellow’s set, during which non music game modes weren’t available to them. Therefore judging by the fact that there are an estimated 125million users a fair chunk of those would’ve been in this set.

Video Game Concerts

It would be interesting to know if it rivalled the numbers of the actual Super Bowl half time show, if so, is this an argument for other games to host their own mini music concert? Is this the future? We don’t think it will ever replace a real music concert, but, is there space in the video game world for this type of content?

Let us know via our socials, would be good to get a conversation going! @howtokillanhour

Music composing robot!

The Shimon robot has learned organically how to play music! As well as being incredibly cool, this robot goes some way to explaining how artificial intelligence can be creative!

Initially the robot had to learn more than 5,000 songs, 2 million motifs & rifs, it’s from this information that the Shimon learned how to compose music by using deep learning techniques to create two 30 second pieces of original pieces.

Researchers at Georgia Tech say that the music that the Shimon creates are a mix between jazz & classical, describing it as ‘soothing’ As well as utilizing deep learning the Shimon also uses a camera on its head to detect which notes to play.
