Uefa Champions League Facebook Streaming!

23rd August 2018/in Entertainment/by billywright

Facebook the social media giant are making giant moves in the video world. Facebook already have secured the rights to stream 2019/20 Premier League season of football in Asia in a £200M deal which was secured in July. This is leading on from Facebook’s previous foray into sports streaming. They’ve already live streamed MLS and La Liga matched previously. Consequently they are making more moves into making them more than just a social media giant. Facebook have secured the rights to stream the Uefa Champions League for free between 2018 and 2021.

While this sounds great and is a wonderful move in the right direction for the company, there is some limits. While this is groundbreaking Facebook will only broadcast 32 games per season. Yet the social media giant will share highlights and magazine programming each week.

Football fans in Latin America were able to view the UEFA Super Cup on August 15th and it will also include future Super Cups alongside the finals. Furthermore this deal will give Facebook Free-To-Air exclusivity, so you’ll need to pay for a TV service or similar to view. If you don’t have Facebook that is.

Facebook hired Eurosport chief Peter Hutton for this very reason, even if the deal isn’t as great as it looks on the outset. Yet it’s a step in the right direction. Facebook have successfully streamed live sports in the past and deals like this one prove that. Who would’ve thought you could watch sport on Facebook just 2-3 years ago. (Engadget)

Who knows, we may be seeing Premier League games or Uefa Champions League games in the UK on Facebook in the near future!?

27th July 2018/in Entertainment/by billywright

Barbershop Ballers

Neymar has got nothing on these lads…For more gold like this tune into Barbershop Ballers at the end of Spain v Russia on the Red Button #barbershopballers.

Posted by BBC Sport on Sunday, 1 July 2018

The world cup is over and we were blue after being knocked out by Croatia in the Semi-Finals. However, we can hold our heads high as the lads done well and made the country proud. What a World Cup it was, trials, tribulations, tears, excitement, drama, it was an exhilarating watch!  Babershop Ballers was one of the things that was really good to watch alongside the football, bringing with it comedy and football analysis! (We’re not forgetting when Nick went to the toilet and missed a GAME CHANGING goal during Belgium Japan!)

Yet, our very own Nick Bright had his own show on the BBC iPlayer during the World Cup and it was incredible! Set up by BBC Sport and called Babershop Ballers, Nick Bright had an alternative analysis of every single game during the World Cup in Russia.

The premise was Nick lead a viewing party for a whole host of celebrity guests such as Trevor Nelson, Lethal Bizzle, Nadia Rose, YouTube Star DT and NFL Superstar Jay Ajayi

Watch Nick Bright on Babershop Ballers by clicking here, there are a total of 10 available episodes to watch!

Footballers Wages: How Long Would It Take?

5th September 2017/in Entertainment/by billywright

Footballers wages are an incredible amount of money and would take the regular person like you or I hundreds of years to earn the amount of money they earn annually. For example Neymar the world’s most expensive footballer earns £775, 477 A WEEK! A WEEK! (Think I need to sit down!)

According to a report by Sporting Intelligence the average wage for a Premier League footballer was £2.4m annually, which is £46k per week, that is more than the average worker in the UK earns in a year! (BBC)

The guys over at BBC sport compiled a handy sporting calculator to figure just how long it would take for us to earn the same amount as your favourite footballing superstars. (Remember, this is without spending a penny to you know, actually live)
