Death Stranding

We’ve recently sent Funk the task of giving Death Stranding a go and trying to figure out what the game is all about.

Death Stranding is the blockbuster title from Hideo Kojima that stars Norman Reedus (Walking Dead), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) Léa Seydoux (Robin Hood, Spectre) Lindsay Wagner (Samson, Grey’s Anatomy) just to name a few!

Death Stranding Plot

As, you’ve all seen the meme’s and chatter online all about how no one can figure out what the game is about. We won’t attempt to explain it. Yet what we will say is. We really enjoyed it. It’s a breath of fresh air, something different and Death Stranding, really caught our attention.

Death Stranding is a LONG game so be prepared to wait it out. It’s not a quick action packed type of game. It’s a long slow and rewarding action game. It will require patience. However, that patience pays off with a very good reward.

After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction. 

In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam Bridges to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.

Bionik Mantis VR Headphones – High Fidelity Headset For PSVR are really really cool! They bring super crisp audio to the VR world and a new element to the PSVR experience. To get the most out of the PSVR you have to wear headphones alongside it, the experience just won’t be the same listening through the audio from the television. In most cases headphones will have to be worn either over the ears and subsequently the headset, which is cumbersome. Additionally, you can wear ear buds when playing the PSVR but again it is uncomfortable and the wires get in the way of the playing experience. 

Design

To combat this Bionik have enabled their headphones to clip directly on to the PSVR headset. Furthermore they are lightweight and rest gently on the ears. Consequently eliminating any ear fatigue that may occur using other methods. The cables are tangle proof too, so there are no issues there! Furthermore the Bionik Mantis VR Headphones also share the same colour scheme as the PSVR, complimenting it well. Seamlessly integrating with the rest of the headset!

As they simply clip on to the PSVR the headphones are easily removable and when not in use they can simply be flipped upwards making them easy to put away and store, or if you need to hear what’s occurring in your environment. The headphones can easily be slid up or down the PSVR headset, raised or lowered,  making it easy to adjust for ear location and head size. Every one is different! Furthermore the over the ear pads (often sold separately) blocks out more sound than any other design making it highly immersive.

Anthem First Impressions

Anthem – Impressions

Anthem is EA’s brand new game that really surprised everyone during E3 2017. It’s a brand new game, a brand new franchise in a completely new universe. Anthem is a futuristic open-world RPG that we were very excited about and for good reason! Well, we’ve given it a go and one thing we can tell you is that it is incredible. Furthermore, it is even better with friends, it’s a wonderful co-op game.

Anthem is an online only, multiplayer, open world,  third person RPG game that’s being developed by BioWare Edmonton and published by EA. This game is HUGE and it’s just been released and many gamers are getting to grips with it. While, the game is being compared to Destiny where the game is constantly being updated. (Gameplay bugs, graphical enhancements, small gameplay updates etc etc)

While this game is already huge and there’s plenty to do. There’s gonna be so much more. As EA are calling Anthem an ‘Evolving World’. While game can be played single player, you can add teammates. As it is designed to be played with friends as it’s billed as a co-op game. Consequently, you and your friends take take on a role of a Freelancer in a group of up to 4 bold and courageous people who leave their civilisation to explore a dangerous yet beautiful landscape.

Events

Destructoid are reporting that EA and Bioware have a “roadmap” for upcoming updates and content drops. Act One is taking place right now and will conclude at the end of May. While, February will have three free events: Outlaw Outrage, There Be Giants and Shaper Surge. Yet, March will see Cortex Locked plus a bunch of new missions. April is said to add a new “Stronghold” and “Social Play modes. Furthermore May is said to add a major event called Cataclysm

5 Exciting New Gaming Trends

If you need tangible proof of the advancement of technology, the gaming world is the place to go. When you think about how far gaming has come in the last few decades, it’s remarkable. From slow black and white screens to intense real-time gaming, the industry has made leaps and bounds. However, it’s not planning on stopping anytime soon. Virtual reality isn’t a new concept in the gaming world, but there is room for so much more than there is right now. 3D has been around longer than many people know. The reason that it wasn’t as mainstream as it is now is because it wasn’t affordable. Like the majority of innovative technology, the wealthy are the ones who get to experience it first. However, VR headsets are about to change the gaming world forever. For example, Oculus Rift, created by Palmer Luckey, has a huge field view, quicker response than other headsets and immersive 3D technology.

 

Secondary Screens

 

For years, gamers have been complaining about not being able to do two things at once while playing certain games. This is especially true for action games where time is precious and the last thing you want to do is pause the game to access another screen. The introduction of secondary screens, like Wii U and Xbox SmartGlass. If you are going to use an additional screen, you’ll need a quality HD one the LG 27UK850 Monitor. Being able to access maps or menus from one screen and continue to play on another will make gaming that more exciting.

Cheap Gaming

 

One of the downsides to gaming is that it can be expensive to kit yourself out with everything you need to get the full experience of games on the market right now. That’s why so many people are playing games on their phones. You can expect to see a rise in android powered game consoles where people can get their hands on cheap and free games with a 1080p gaming experience. The industry will no longer rely on big corporations to create expensive games.

 

Augmented Reality

 

Augmented reality has just as many possibilities as virtual reality. When using augmented reality, a gamer’s reality is altered to provide them with a new experience each time. For instance, games like DroidShooting can be played on phones. The game takes your surroundings and you have to shoot at the droids that appear within those surroundings. You’ll see your own reality on your phone but the game will add to it to create an experience.

Cloud Gaming

 

If you thought the Cloud didn’t have its finger in this pie too, you’d be wrong. The future of gaming will be more accessible, like music and movies, to those who want to game at the click of a button. All it will take is a device and an internet connection to play a selection of different games online.

 

Gaming is constantly changing, but always for the better.

 

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is OUT NOW and we think that it is absolutely incredible. Not only is it beautiful but the story is said to be one of the most interesting and immersive gaming experiences out there right now. We will definitely come back to you with a full look at Metro Exodus in the future. But in the mean time, we’re on board. This game has no competitive multiplayer, it has no co-op but what it does have is a vivid story which will keep you entertained for hours. It looks like a movie, what more could you want?!

Five years on from the previous Metro game (Metro: Last Light) you control Arytom and a band of Spartan Rangers. WHo have fled the Moscow Metro and embark on an incredible continent spanning epic journey. Not just any journey either, it’s across a post apocalyptic Russia.

The story is inspired by novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky. Metro Exodus’ storyline is a huge expansive single player experience that blends an incredible narrative. With high octane impact combat, exploration, survival and stealth. Therefore creating one wonderfully atmospheric, immersive world. We haven’t been this excited for a single player experience since Red Dead Redemption II!

Far Cry: New Dawn

Far Cry: New Dawn is the brand new Far Cry game from Ubisoft Montreal,  a sequel to Far Cry 5, the hugely popular first person shooter. Set 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5 and you will see similarities to the setting of Hope County, yet in a completely different setting. Post Apocalyptic.

In Far Cry: New Dawn you return to Hope County 17 years after a global nuclear catastrophe. Civilisation is all but been wiped out. Therefore those that remain are fighting to survive. Factions have been created and risen. Bringing everything into disrepute.

One of the factions that have arisen in this post apocalyptic civilisation is the Highwaymen. Which is led by twin sisters Mickey and Lou. The Highwaymen cause terror amongst the civilisation bleeding survivors of all available resources.Help those left behind defend their lands against this relentless onslaught or come to their aid and lead the fight.

You can help the remaining communities grow stronger, help craft a makeshift arsenal. By doing a range of cross-country expeditions, helping to upgrade your homebase. Leading to an improvement in facilities which lead to powerful weapons and gear. You can even form alliances with those you may not expect. All to secure your place in the new world you have found yourself in.

You can play the game singularly or like Far Cry 5, take on the world in two player co-op. You may come across some mutated forms of wildlife!

Devil May Cry 5 – Fast Paced. High Octane. A LOT OF FUN!

We recently got our hands on an exclusive play through of Devil May Cry 5 and let us tell you now, that it is absolutely amazing! What a great start to the year in the gaming world?! If you have ever played Devil May Cry series before, the game play of Devil May Cry 5 will come as no surprise to you. The game is very easy to play, very easy to pick up. Exactly how you’d expect a hack and slasher like the Devil May Cry series to be like.  The brand new character V is an incredible addition to the franchise too, bringing a breath of fresh air to an already great series. Furthermore there an additional 2 other brand new characters, each with their own set of play style.

The over the top style of play is something that we love and it’s fast paced, high octane gameplay style that what everyone loved, is what draws people to the latest instalment and undoubtedly the reason as to why this game is highly anticipated from a lot of the gaming community. You will not be disappointed by this game. Whether you are a fan of the series or not.

Anthem VIP DEMO & MORE!

If the gameplay trailer didn’t get you excited the demo surely will, the VIP Demo is available for a short peroid between January 25th-27th. A few weeks prior to it’s release on February 22nd.
