AirTag: Find you stuff quickly and easily!

AirTag is a small and elegantly designed accessory that helps keep track of and find the items that matter most with Apple’s Find My app. You can attach the device to a handbag, a set of keys, a backpack or any other item you love. AirTag will use Apple’s huge Find My Network to help locate a lost item. From all over the world! While keeping your location data private with anonymous end to end encryption. AirTags can be purchased in one and four packs for just £29 and £99.
AirTag: Lightweight Design with Magical Setup
Each AirTag is incredibly small and light. It has precision-etched polished stainless steel and is IP67 water and dust resistant. There is a built in speaker to help locate the AirTag with sounds. While a removable cover makes it easy for users to replace the battery. Set up is incredibly easy. Just bring the device to an iPhone and it will connect. Just like AirPods do! Users can then assign the AirTag to an item and name it things like “Keys” or “Jacket”, or even use a custom name.

You can also personalise the device with Free engraving when purchasing from Apple. You can place the AirTag into a bag or pocket, or use a wide range of AirTags, Apple designed accessories. Such as a Polyurethane Loop, which is both lightweight and durable, and the Leather Loop and Leather Key Ring, featuring specially tanned European leather. Each accessory is designed to fit securely around the device and attach securely to a users belongings.

A Comprehensive Finding Experience

Once the device is set up it will appear in the new ‘items’ tab within the Find My App. You can view the current location or last known location on a map. While if you lose it within Bluetooth range, you can use the Find My App to play a sound to help locate it. You can also use Siri to help find the item and the AirTag will emit a sound if it’s nearby.
If you have an iPhone 11, iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 you can use Precision Finding, thanks to the U1 chip! This will allow you to accurately determine the distance and direction of a lost AirTag when it is in range. So, when a user moves, the Precision Finding fuses together data from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer and gyroscope to guide you to the AirTag. This is done by using a combination of sound, haptics and visual feedback.

Out of Range

If the AirTag is out of Bluetooth range, the Find My Network will help track it down. Find My Network has close to a billion Apple devices. Using this it can detect Bluetooth signals from a lost AirTag from other iPhones, iPads and other Apple devices and relay the location back to it’s owner. All in the background, anonymously and privately. Even if the AirTag is moved!
Users can place the AirTag into Lost Mode and then be notified when it is range or if it has been located by the Find My Network. While if someone finds an AirTag that is lost. They can tap it on their iPhone or any NFC-capable device. They will then be taken to a website that will display a contact phone number for the owner if they have provided one.
The device includes support for the accessibility features built into iOS. Precision Finding using VoiceOver, for example, can direct users who are blind or low-vision to AirTag with directions like “AirTag is 9 feet away on your left.”

Privacy and Security Built In

AirTag is designed from the ground up to keep location data private and secure. So, no location data or location history is ever held or stored on the device itself. Communication with the Find My Network is end to end encrypted. Therefore only the owner of a device has access to it’s location data. No one, including Apple, knows the identity or location of any device that helped find it.

Unwanted Tracking

Also, in an industry first, Apple designed AirTag to discourage unwanted tracking. Bluetooth signal identifiers transmitted by AirTag rotate frequently to prevent unwanted location tracking. iOS devices can also detect an AirTag that isn’t with it’s owner. It will notify if an unknown AirTag is seen to be traveling with them from place to place over time. Even if users don’t have an iOS device, an AirTag separated from it’s owner for an extended period of time. Will play a sound when moved to draw attention to it.
While, if a user detects an unknown AirTag, they can tap it with their iPhone or NFC-capable device and instructions will guide them to disable it.

WWDC21 Everything Apple Announced This Week!

WWDC21 and Apple have announced a slew of new features for iOS, MacOS and WatchOS. Lots of features aimed at improving your social side of life, both with connecting with others and reducing the amount of time that you spend on your devices!

iOS15 – WWDC21

Apple showed off updates to FaceTime, a new way to reduce distractions, enhanced on-device intelligence to discover information. Plus there’s also updates to Maps, Weather and Wallet!

FaceTime gets an update to help make conversations on screen feel more natural over video calls. Spatial Audio helps to make the voices from who you are talking to sound as if they are coming from where the person is positioned on screen. There are also new microphone modes to separate the voice from the background noise. Portrait mode also comes to FaceTime and is designed specifically for video calls so users can blur their backgrounds and keep themselves in focus. Furthermore in Group FaceTime there is a new grid mode which enables participants to see more faces at the same time.

FaceTime entertianment

Make FaceTime more entertaining with SharePlay. You can now listen to Apple Music, Watch a TV show or Movie in Sync and even share your screen with them! SharePlay works across iPhone, iPad and Mac. Users are also able to share playback controls so anyone can play, pause or jump ahead. SharePlay can even connect to Apple TV, so users can watch content on the big screen. All while keeping your devices in sync. Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max, Hulu, MasterClass, Paramount+, Pluto TV, TikTok, Twitch, and many others are integrating SharePlay into their apps.

FaceTime calls can now extend beyond Apple devices with the ability to create a FaceTime link and share it through Messages, Mail or any 3rd Party app. Anyone can join a FaceTime call from their web browser or Android and Windows devices. FaceTime calls on the web remain end to end encrypted so privacy is not compromised.

Distraction will be a thing of the past in iOS15. Focus is a new feature that filters notifications and apps based on what the user wants to focus on. Users can set their device to help them focus by creating a custom Focus or select a suggested Focus. The device will use on-device intelligence to suggest which apps and people are allowed to notify them. It will be suggested to them based on a users context, like during work hours or while they are winding down for bed. Focus can be set on one device and then extend across all their Apple devices. Home Screen pages can also be created with apps and widgets to moments of focus and only display relevant apps and reduce temptation. When you are restricting incoming notifications, their status is displayed to others in Messages. Letting others know that you are not currently reachable.

Notifications have also been redesigned. Contact photos for people and larger icons for apps make them easier to identify. Reducing distraction a new notification summary will collect non-time-critical notifications for delivery at a more opportune time. Such as in the mornings or in the evenings. The on-device intelligence will arrange notifications by priority, with the most relevant notifications rising to the top. All based on a user’s interactions with their apps. Urgent messages will be delivered immediately. While it is easy to temporarily mute any app or messaging thread for the next hour or day.

Cool On-Device Intelligence Tech

Live Text will use on-device intelligence to recognise text in a photo and let users take action on that. For example, users can search for and locate the picture of a handwritten recipe, capture a number from a store front. Then using Apple Neural Engine can either copy and paste the recipe or call the number that was on the store front.

With Visual Look Up, users can learn more popular art and landmarks around the world, plants and flowers found in nature, breeds of pets and even find books. Spotlight will alsu use intelligence to search photos by location, people, scenes and objects using Live Text. It can even find text and handwriting in recent conversations, shared photos and even location if shared through Find My. Photos also has an update to Memories. With a new look, interactive interface and integration with Apple Music.

Safari gets a cool new redesign making it easier to control and reach with one hand. The tab bar is now compact and lightweight and now has been moved to the bottom of the screen. Therefore making it easier to swipe between tabs. Tab Groups also allows users to save tabs and easily access them at any time on any device. There is now a customisable start page and web extensions on iOS.

Apple Maps

Apple Maps now will be significantly enhanced with new details in cities for neighborhoods, commercial districts, elevation, buildings and new road colors, labels, custom designed landmarks and a new night mode.

While using and navigation with Apple Maps on iPhone or Car Play, Maps will feature a 3D city driving experience. With new road details, therefore making it easier to understand improtant details. Such as when to turn lanes, medians, bike lanes and pedestrian crosswalks. Transit riders can now find nearby stations more easily and pin favorite lines. Maps will automatically follow along a selected transit route, notifying users when it’s nearly time to disembark. Furthermore in iOS15, users can hold up their iPhone and Maps will generate a highly accurate position to deliver walking directions in augmented reality.

New Keys and State ID’s in Apple Wallet

Apple Wallet now has support for additional types of keys! Last year Apple introduced digital car keys, with BMW being the first manufacturer to take advantage of this tech. Digital Car Keys get even better with support for Ultra Wideband Technology, making it easy for users to securely unlock and lock their supported vehicle without having to take their iPhone from a pocket or bag. Futhermore iPhone can also be used to unlock a user’s home, office or hotel room. All with keys stored in the Wallet.

For those in the US, participating states will allow users to add their drivers license or state IDs to Wallet. TSA is working to enable airport security checkpoints to be the first place that customers can use their digital Identity card in wallet. ID cards in Wallet are encrypted and stored safely in the Secure Element. Using the same tech that makes Apple Pay private and secure.

iOS15 now has even more privacy controls. On-device speech recognition, audio of Siri requests is now processed entirely on iPhone by default. Mail Privacy Protection stops senders from learning whether an email has been opened and hides IP addresses so senders can’t learn a user’s location and use it to build a profile. App Privacy Report will also offer an overview of how apps use the access that has been granted to location, photos, camera, microphone and contacts in the last 7 days and which other domains have been contacted.

Weather and Notes

Weather gets a nice new facelift and adds graphical displays of weather data, full screen maps and dynamic layouts which change based on conditions. Animated backgrounds more accurately reflect the sun’s position and precipitation and notifications highlight when rain or snow starts and stops.

Notes will add user created tags that make it easy to quickly categorise notes and mentions allow members of shared notes to notify each other of important changes. While an all-new Activity view shows the history of a shared note.

Additional features WWDC21

  • Siri now can announce notifications on Airpods and the ability for users to share what’s on their screen just by asking
  • Shared With You. Will work across Apple Devices to show articles, music, tv shows, photos and more which are shared in Messages and display them conveniently in the appropriate app. Photos in Photos app, TV shows in Apple Tv and Podcasts in Apple Podcasts for example.

A12 Bionic on the new Apple TV 4K now supports high frame rate HDR and Dolby Vision Video allowing for fast moving 60fps to play smooth and more life like content. Apple is working with leading video providers around the world. Such as FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount+, Red Bull TV, and Canal+. As they begin to stream in high frame rate HDR. Videos shot on iPhone 12 Pro will be displayed in full 60fps Dolby Vision on the new Apple TV 4K too.

Now with Apple TV and iPhone an innovative colour balance is capable. Apple TV will then automatically tailor its video output to deliver more accurate colours and improved contrast. Without adjusting the TV!

New Siri Remote features an innovative clickpad which offers five way navigation for better accuracy. It is also touch enabled for fast directional swipes. The outer ring of the clickpad supports an intuitive circular gesture which turns into a jog control. The power button also controls the TV power and another button controls mute. Apple unveiled their Tile competitor, AirTag. It’s a small and elegant accessory that helps you keep track of things that mean the most to you. You are able to locate and find these products via the Find My App on your iPhone. Attach them to your keys, your wallet, your handback, backpack, anything at all! AirTags uses the global Find My Network and can help locate a lost item. While keeping data safe, private and anonymous with end to end encryption. They ar available for £29 for 1 or £99 for 4 and are available 30th April.

“We’re excited to bring this incredible new capability to iPhone users with the introduction of AirTag, leveraging the vast Find My network, to help them keep track of and find the important items in their lives,”

“With its design, unparalleled finding experience, and built-in privacy and security features, AirTag will provide customers with another way to leverage the power of the Apple ecosystem and enhance the versatility of iPhone.” Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.

Each AirTag is small and lightweight, features precision etched polished stainless steel and is IP67 water and dust resistant. There is a small speaker built in top help you locate an AirTag. While there is also a removeable cover to make it easy for users to replace the battery. Simply bring the AirTag close to an iPhone to connect it. You can attach a name to the AirTag to help you assign the tag to a cherished item of yours. Personalise the AirTag with free engraving including text and 31 different emoji’s if you so choose at checkout on Apple’s website. You can either place an AirTag into a bag or pocket or use a wide range of Apple-designed AirTag accessories. Such as the Polyurethane Loop, Leather Loop or Leather Key Ring.

Find My

Once the AirTag is set up it will appear in the items tab from within the Find My App. this will show the items current or last known location. If you lose the item and it is within Bluetooth range you can use the Find My App to make the AirTag emit a sound. While you can also use Siri to help locate the item. So the AirTag will play a sound if it is nearby.

Each AirTag has a U1 chip which uses Ultra Wideband Technology. Therefore allowing it to have Precision Finding for iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 users. By using this tech you are able to more accurately locate the AirTag when it is in range. When a user is moving around trying to locate an item, Precision Finding fuses input from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer and gyroscope to guide them to their AirTag. Using a combination of sound, haptics and visual feedback.

Furthermore and what’s really impressive is if an AirTag is separated from it’s user outside of Bluetooth range. The Find My Network will help to track it down. Find My Network is approaching a billion Apple Devices and can detect bluetooth signals from a lost AirTag and relay that information back down to it’s owner, all in the background. While remaining anonymous.

While, users can place an AirTag into Lost Mode and be notified when it is in range. Furthermore when it has been located by the Find My Network. What’s even better is if an AirTag is found by someone they can tap it using their iPhone or any NFC-capable device and be taken to a website which will display a contact phone number for the owner if they have provided one. That is so cool!

Furthermore AirTag also has support for the blind or low vision users. Precision Finding can use VoiceOVer and direct users who are blind or low vision to AirTag with directions like ‘AirTag is 9 feet away on your left’

No data location or location history is kept inside the AirTag. Communication with the Find My Network is end to end encrypted. So only the owner of the device has access to it’s location data. As not even Apple knows the identity or location of any device that helped find it either.

AirTag also has a set of proactive features which help to discourage unwanted tracking. Bluetooth signal identifiers are transmitted by AirTag. Which rotate frequently to prevent unwanted location tracking. iOS devices can also detect that an AirTag isn’t with its owner. It will notify the user if an unknown AirTag is known to be travelling with them from place to place. If users don’t have an iOS device, an AirTag separated from its owner for an extended period of time. Also, it will play a sound when moved to draw attention to it. If a user detects an unknown AirTag on them, they can tap it with their iPhone or NFC-capable device. It will then give instructions to guide them to disable it.

Apple and Hermès are also creating AirTag Hermès accessories. Such as a Bag Charm, Key Ring, Travel Tag, and Luggage Tag. While Hermès accessories will also be sold with a custom-engraved AirTag based on the brand’s iconic Clou de Selle signature.

Talking Tom and his POKE-A-THON!

Outfit7 is celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary of Talking Tom this summer! Talking Tom made his global debut in his first game in July 2010 and instantly became an overnight sensation! 10 years and 13 billion downloads later, Outfit7 is inviting fans to a special “POK-A-TOM’ event from July 20th to July 30th.

The reason behind this? Can Tom’s fans poke him 10 billion times in 10 days?

The anniversary event is taking place in a total of four of Tom’s most popular games: Talking Tom Cat, My Talking Tom, My Talking Tom 2, and My Talking Tom Friends.

During the celebration the total number of pokes will be displayed on a “POK-A-METER” on the Outfit7 official website. While if players manage to complete the challenge, (10 billion pokes) every player will be gifted a generous in-game currency bundle. More times Tom gets poked, the bigger the reward!

“Fans have poked Tom almost too many times to count since 2010,”

“Over 400 million fans play with the games every month, so we wanted them to be included in the celebration by doing more of what they love – and getting fun rewards to enjoy with Tom in return!”

Xinyu Qian, CEO of Outfit7

Folding iPhone Exciting Concept!

Folding iPhone. The one rumour that just won’t go away. Noe the team over at #iOS beta news have created a rather cool concept. The Folding iPhone looks like a cross between a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or the rebooted Motorola Razr.

In the video above we see the iPhone Flip, a handset that when folded out in phone form, has really thin bezels. The notch is gone and has replaced by a centre mounted pin-hole camera. The back has the usual tipped iPhone camera array.

The video also shows a backplate-mounted secodary screen.Which can display content, notifcations and messages when the phone is in clamshell mode.

The rumours of a folding iPhone and the hundreds of concepts as a result. Have come from a patent from Apple depicting a folding iPhone. Now you know as well as I do that not all patents get made. So who knows maybe Apple are planning a folding iPhone, maybe they’re not, they may just be testing the water. But whatever happens, we know that Apple tend to wait until the tech has been perfected before adding it into their smartphones.

So I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Until then we can enjoy the plenty of concepts that are on the web today.

Swisse Me’s Advert TOO RUDE for Tv!

Too Rude For TV!

No YOU have a dirty mind! – new advert from Swisse MeMore here:

Posted by How To Kill an Hour on Wednesday, 13 May 2020

A new advert for some healthy fruit smoothies has been deemed too rude for TV. Swisse Me, the food’s makers, has dubbed the advert ‘health food porn’ is 30 seconds long. It’s got censors all hot under the collar. As they’re calling for it to be screened after dark!

A new commercial for healthy fruit smoothies has been called too rude for TV.

A breakdown…

The advert has a whistling soundtrack and has a medley of fruit which is seductively handled. It ends with a jet of fruit smoothie erupting from a pouch. Mind out of the gutter you!

The start of the advert shows a pert pair of avocados, which is then followed by an upright length of banana being stroked by single female finger. Next we see mens fingers plunge into a juicy orange!

Furthermore an apricot is then prised open, a man cups a pair of hairy kiwi fruits and running his finger across a bulbous avocado stone.

As a banana rises into view, dripping in honey, smoothie juice drips from the centre of a strawberry.

ooooof is it getting hot in here is it just us.

Finally a lemon and avocado is squeezed with vigour, a banana is broken in half. While a geyser of smoothie flies over raspberries and blueberries which lay on a bed of spinach leaves.

Therefore, ad censors have called for the commercial to be screened after 9pm watershed. Despite it showing a single sweaty body. Clearcast the TV advertising governing body, stated that the “sexual innuendo, involving genitalia, breasts and porn” is likely to push the advert to be pushed well after the 9pm watershed.

So, after reviewing the advert, the watchdog confirmed the advert will only be shown during late-night telly.

The 30-second commercial was made by health food brand Swisse Me to promote the ingredients in their range of ready-to-drink smoothies.

What Swisse Me say…

“There’s nothing more natural than getting a mouthful of fruit, which is exactly what our smoothies are packed with. All the goodness, with none of the filth. We can deliver them straight to your letterbox too, in case you want to be discreet.”

“We know how tricky it is to get in daily vitamins and minerals, so we’ve made it super easy with handy smoothies in 12 deliciously naughty flavours.”

Nykkea Maretic from Swisse Me

“This isn’t just any food porn commercial, it is a health food porn commercial.” Rowan Adams Advert Director
